To inspire girls to pursue Information and Communications Technology as a study and profession, the Industry and Innovation Unit within the Office of the Prime Minister on Saturday, May 4, 2024, commenced its โGuyanese Girls Code Programmeโ in recognition of International Girls in ICT Day.
The annual programme began in Regions Four and Six and will see girls from seventh to eleventh grade participate in areas of introduction to Scratch Coding, Vex Code VR and Problem Solving and Design Thinking. Participating schools this year include New Amsterdam Secondary, J.C Chandisingh and Brickdam Secondary. Apart from the physical setting of the programme, the Unit will continue the programme during the latter half of 2024 with hopes of targeting more girls both virtually and in person.
