Basic and Advanced training will continue in the region for 2024.
Over two months, approximately one hundred persons from Region Six from villages including RoseHall, Bangladesh, Gangaram, and surrounding villages participated in the Office of the Prime Minister-Industry and Innovation Unitโs Basic ICT Community Training Programme. The Foundation courses aim to assist participants in acquiring the fundamental knowledge and skills to use a computer, providing the essential concept of Microsoft Office, including concentrating on understanding the basic skills required to create, edit, and enhance Word documents. Overall, the programme provides a platform for participants with knowledge and skills for personal and career development.
At the RoseHall graduation held at Corentyne Comprehensive High School, Regional Sports Officer of Region Six and Councillor at Port Mourant, NDC, Ryan Mangru, dubbed RoseHall the learning Hub and alluded to the townโs progress. He said residents should use the government programmes as a stepping stone towards self-development. Mangru underlined the governmentโs investment in human resources and congratulated the participants for completing the programme.
Meanwhile, at the Gangaram graduation ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Canefield NDC, Alicia Dowridge, underscored the importance of being digitally inclined. She said the training programme is an upgrade to personal development. โSeek out the best means of giving back to your community. Make yourself a beneficial factor to your homes and neighbourhood. Build on the start you have been given, and put your knowledge to good use, even as the government would have already laid the foundation,โ the ViceChair said. Ms. Dowridge put forth that technology is ever-advancing. She noted the importance of community training is one of the governmentโs agenda to boost capacity building in information communication technology.
