Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d), the Honourable Mark Phillips received a courtesy visit this afternoon from several members of STEM Guyana, involved in the “First Global Robotics Challenge” 2021.
Prime Minister Phillips wished the team success after presenting them with a token on behalf of his office, while he also assured them of the Government’s support through the Industry and Innovation Unit of his office.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister was updated on the competition by the team, who informed him of the various aspects of the challenge and of Guyana’s current ranking (14th out of 175 competing countries).
This year, the competition is themed Discover and Recover and runs from June 27 to September 18.
As a result of the complications of COVID-19, it is being conducted virtually in three phases. Teams must first identify a problem and its solution, form an alliance with another country and finally implement the solution to the problem with the use of robotics.
