Advancing Digital Inclusion: Launch of ICT Training Program for Persons with Disabilities

Yesterday attended the launch of the ICT Training Program for persons with disabilities, at the Empower Guyana Centre for Equity, Opportunity, and Innovation. This program is conducted by the Industry and Innovation Unit of the Office of the Prime Minister.
During remarks, said that under the visionary leadership of His Excellency President Irfaan Ali, the government remains steadfast in its commitment to digital and financial Inclusion for every Guyanese, irrespective of their physical circumstances, and this launch today is a manifestation of that.
The training programs are being implemented through the use of technology like voice-to-text, text-to-voice, and specialized reading software to ensure those with visual impairments and able to enhance their knowledge and skills and participate in Guyana’s digital transformation.
Further noted that the Government is also engaging the Guyana Association of Bankers to ensure persons living with disabilities have seamless access to banking services and loans, helping them build their own homes and businesses.
Also took the opportunity to congratulate the students on taking the initiative to upskill, and assured them that they are on the right path to achieving full financial and economic empowerment.
